This illustration inspired by Japanese culture depicts a cat leaving a restaurant in the snow. He wears a rice-straw coat called mino which was widely used in the countryside to protect himself from the weather.

 

In the background, we can see part of the noren (traditional Japanese curtain) of the restaurant on which we see a fish as well as the first characters of the word nezumi (ねずみ) which means mouse/rat. We can therefore deduce that the restaurant serves fish and is run by a mouse
